Commonwealth Projects
Advisor, Attorney-General (2002)
This Commonwealth funded project extended for a further two years the services of the Advisor to the Attorney-General. Professional legal assistance and advice was provided to the Office of the Attorney-General, including support with drafting legislation and the implementation of recommendations from the Constitutional Review Committee. Assistance in drafting legislation and regulations and advice on various international legal issues was also provided.
Civil Aviation Advisor (2001)
A civil aviation advisor was provided by the Commonwealth Secretariat for two years to introduce well-defined maintenance practices and procedures to the Civil Aviation Department in Tuvalu. The advisor also provided training for counterparts, as a key focus of the project was to upgrade staff skills and enhance the capacity of the Department to effectively manage the civil aviation industry. The advisor undertook a range of tasks, including reviewing existing regulations, establishing mobile and responsive mechanisms, developing training plans and delivering training programmes for staff. In addition, advice on air services, programmes and civil aviation agreements was also provided to the Government.
Development of garment and knitwear facilities (1997-2000)
The objective of this Commonwealth funded project was to introduce industrial production methods, management systems and in-plant training, to develop garment and knitwear facilities for women in Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu and Samoa.
Senior Crown Counsel Attorney General’s Office (1997-2000)
The expert provided legal advice to Government Ministries, departments and statutory bodies. The expert also assisted with the drafting of legislation and facilitation of legal training programmes.
