North West Province

North West ProvinceThe North West Province, located west of Gauteng is known as the Platinum Province for its expansive wealth of platinum, accounting for 94 percent of South Africa’s platinum, producing more platinum than any other single area in the world. But the North West is perhaps better known for Sun City, the Pilanesburg National Park and the Rustenberg Nature Reserve as major tourist destinations. The Province composes about nine percent of South Africa’s land area and about 7 percent of its population. The North West Province is divided into four district municipalities including the Bojanala Platinum District, Ngaka Modiri Molema District, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District, and the Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District which in turn can be sub-divided into 20 local municipalities.
