Placed on the Southern tip of Africa, the Western Cape is the joint second largest contributor to South Africa’s GDP and one of the fastest growing economies driven by substantial growth in the finance, real estate, ICT, retail and tourism sectors. The Western Cape is home to Cape Town – the legislative capital of South Africa – which itself is within the metropolitan area of the City of Cape Town. The Western Cape is also home to the five district municipalities of the West Coast, Central Karoo, Overberg, Eden and Cape Winelands which in turn can be sub-divided into the 24 local municipalities.
