Siavonga

Siavonga is a district in the Southern Province with the town of Siavonga as its capital. The town of Siavonga on Lake Kariba is the second most important tourist centre in the province. It is also the hub of the kapenta fishing industry in Zambia, while crocodile farming and commercial fish farming are also prominent. One of the main economic sectors in the district is electricity generation. The Kariba North Bank power station, currently undergoing expansion, is set to become the largest power station in the country and one of the largest hydro-electric facilities in southern Africa. The Ing-ombe Ilede is an archaeological site that attracts tourists to the area.
