Busia

Busia District, named for its chief town, is located in the Eastern Region of Uganda. Prior to 1997, the district was part of Tororo District. The district shares borders with the Republic of Tanzania and Kenya. Busia District is the birthplace of many noteworthy individuals including the chief justice of Uganda and the founder of Equity Bank Uganda. Agriculture is the mainstay of the local economy, with main crops including cassava, rice, groundnuts, sorghum and millet.
