Due to the economic focus on tourism, the sector of private security is covered very well in Antigua and Barbuda: many private security firms such as Supreme Security are located on the islands. In 2006, the parliament of the state passed the Private Security Registration Act, which requires private security agencies to be officially licensed. For a state with a relatively small population, national security is well represented: in total, the Antigua & Barbudan Royal Police Force counts 632 officers and 48 have recently been recruited by the government (2007).
