Find Water and Sanitation expertise in Antigua and Barbuda
Even though it has improved in recent years and in the tourist parts of Antigua & Barbuda, the 2004 GIWA Regional Assessment study states that the unregulated disposal of human waste and insufficient drainage has resulted in standing pools of contaminated water. The local branch of the Caribbean Basin Water Management Programme Inc. (CBWMP) is dedicated to managing the country’s water resources effectively. Tap water is generally considered safe, but there is a good distribution of bottled water to cater for the needs of locals and tourists. In 2009, a new manufacturer of bottled water, Charlie’s Bottling Company, was launched.
