Transport in Antigua and Barbuda
In addition to the national airline – Leeward Islands Air Transport (LIAT) – a large number of companies from all over the world offer frequent services to and from Antigua and Barbuda. Regular inter-Caribbean flights are operated by several Caribbean and non-Caribbean airlines. The island’s main point of entry for tourists, businessmen and other visitors is VC Bird International Airport located on Antigua. Connecting voyages to Barbuda are available via plane (every 20 minutes to Codrington) or ship. Cruise liners serve Antigua and Barbuda from the USA, Puerto Rico, the UK, Europe and South America, often being one stop in Caribbean cruises. The major hub for local shipping traffic is St. John’s deep water harbour in Antigua. Several car rental companies are based on the islands and coach and taxi services offer good connections at reasonable prices.
