The Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) supplies electricity to most of the country with the exception of the island of Grand Bahama, which is supplied by the Grand Bahama Power Company. The BEC generates its electricity from 28 diesel engine stations and 1 gas turbine power station with a total installed generating capacity of 438 megawatts (MW). The Grand Bahama Power Company has a total installed generating capacity of 141 MW, generated by a mixture of oil- and diesel-powered stations.
