Bilateral and Multilateral Co-operation

The Bahamas is a member of the Commonwealth, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Organization of American States (OAS), the UN and its specialised agencies, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and several other international organisations and regional groupings. Bilateral relationships with the United States are strong, although this is not a typical donor–recipient relationship since The Bahamas is among the wealthiest countries in the Western Hemisphere. In 2005, however, the United Sates Agency for International Development (USAID) provided U$S500,000 of disaster assistance in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma.
