Travel in Bangladesh

Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier, services many destinations around the world. A flight to London takes 12 hours, and double that to New York. Visitors wishing to travel in Bangladesh by road are advised to hire a driver. Rail is considered a slow but efficient method to traverse the country since many of the country’s roads are vulnerable to damage from floods. A direct, twice-weekly Kolkata to Dhaka rail service, known as the Maitree (Friendship) Express, covers 538 km and is run by the Indian and Bangladeshi railways. Currently, there are no international passenger routes to and from Bangladesh
