Water in Barbados is provided by the Barbados Water Authority. The authority sources most of its water from two spring sources, around 30 wells and boreholes spread around the island and through desalination. The authority also runs two sewage treatment plants on the island – Bridgetown and South Coast. Tap water is considered safe to drink, although bottled water has a significant-sized market, which has been enough to support the viability of local production.
