The Minister of Economic Development, Commerce and Industry and Consumer Protection governs everything related to Economic Development Agencies. The department runs a variety of statutory bodies which act as agents of economic development in the country. Examples of these include the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service and the Investment Unit. Such bodies also exist due to Belize’s involvement in the socio-economic spheres of both Central America and the Caribbean – these include the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
