Belize has a road network of some 2,870 km, 17% of which is paved, with 1,420 km being all-weather roads. The four main highways are: Northern Highway (Belize City to Chetumal on the Mexican border); Western Highway (Belize City via Belmopan to the Guatemalan border); Hummingbird Highway (Belmopan to Dangriga); and Southern Highway (Dangriga to Punta Gorda). Belize has over 800 km of navigable inland waterways, though these can only be accessed with small vessels. Belize City is the main port, which has nine shipping lines running cargo services through it; the international airport, Philip S. W. Goldson, lies 16 km northwest of Belize City. The airport provides flights to the US, from which other global destinations can be reached.
