Find Trade Union expertise in Belize

The National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) was formed in 1966, and is an umbrella organisation representing the ten major trade unions in the country, with a total membership that exceeds 3,000. It is aligned with the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). Union members range from those in the civil service, to those in public utility companies and the energy industry. The NTUCB also has the power to advise the governor-general to appoint one of the National Senate’s 12 members. Despite this, trade union participation is quite low. This may have a lot to do with the limited involvement in the plantations and export processing zones.
