Bilateral and Multilateral Co-operation

Belize has friendly relations with many countries throughout the world. This is especially so with local countries in Central America and the Caribbean, and major aid donors. Partnerships in the local area have benefited in the health sector. Major donors include the US, Canada and Taiwan. The US contributes primarily through military assistance, whilst Taiwan has in the past provided cheap loans to help with national projects such as affordable housing, and with agricultural research. Belize is a dedicated member of the UN, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Organization of American States (OAS), and various other Caribbean and Central American organisations.
