Major corporations inside Brunei are dominated by the oil and gas sector: with major examples including the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Shendirian Berhad, which is a joint venture between Bruneian Government and Shell; and   Brunei National Petroleum Company Shendrian Berhad, which is entirely state-owned. However it should be noted that many of the larger companies include some financial institutions including the Baiduri Bank Group, the Brunei Investment Authority and the Islamic Bank of Brunei – which reflect Brunei’s desires to be an international centre for offshore banking. As of 2011, there is no stock exchange in Brunei.
