Property prices in Brunei are well known for conservative, but reliable, growth — though it is very dependent on the prices of imported building materials. Housing projects tend to be built and managed by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), with many projects on the few Greenfield sites in the country. Foreigners are not allowed to own land within Brunei, except with prior approval in writing of the King, though native companies often provide rented properties to their foreign workers. There is little regulation of the industry and no real estate agents’ association.
