Manulife Financial, Suncor Energy Inc and Royal Bank of Canada are the three biggest companies by revenue respectively; and again respectively Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank and Suncor Energy Inc are the biggest by market capitalisation (2011). All are publicly listed. The largest privately-listed companies are owned by publicly-listed companies. The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) is the national capital market, with the S&P/TSX60 index representing the 60 largest firms – effectively constituting 73% of Canada’s equity-market capitalization.
