Find Security expertise in Canada

Results from a 2006 census suggest that there are three private security personnel to every two police officers in Canada, which perhaps goes to show the extent of the private security industry. When speaking of private security personnel, Canadians are generally referring to both security guards and private investigators. There are plenty firms of varying size in the sector, operating from a local level right up to national level; large global private security companies Securitas and G4S also run operations in Canada. Of the 100,000 private security personnel employed by such firms in 2006, around 90% were security guards. Private investigators and security guards must be licensed by the province or territory. Tight regulation for this industry has been introduced in many provinces and territories; in 2010, for instance, Alberta passed the Security Services and Investigators Act.
