Find National NGO expertise in Cyprus
There are over 400 non-governmental and civil society organisations based in Cyprus representing both the Turkish and Greek Cypriot communities. Many of these organisations aim to promote co-operation between the two communities with an aim of finding a lasting resolution to the ongoing territorial dispute on the island. Examples of such organisations include the Women’s Movement for Peace and a Federal Solution, Sharing an Island and the Youth Activism Project. The Cyprus NGO Support Centre, founded in 1999, strives to strengthen civil society co-operation throughout the island. It provides consultation and training to NGOs and CSOs, and also organises events, such as the NGO Fair. Other national NGOs working in Cyprus include ACCEPT, a charity raising awareness of the LGBT community in order to combat prejudice; and the Centre for the Advancement of Research and Development in Education Technology (CARDET) which aims to promote the use of technology in education and training.
