National Agencies
National agencies in Cyprus are public entities established by acts of legislation and are referred to as semi-governmental organisations. They are organisations in which the state is a major shareholder and they provide a wide range of essential services. Examples include the Cyprus Ports Authority, responsible for the administration of the country’s ports and the management and construction of port infrastructure; the Cyprus Sports Organisation, which aims to develop sport outside of schools, promote Cyprus on the international sporting scene, and coordinate national sport schemes; and the Cyprus State Fairs Authority, established in 1968 to organise the annual Cyprus International Fair as well as several other exhibitions and events.
