Transport in Cyprus
Larnaca and Paphos International Airports are serviced by numerous international airlines, including the national air carrier, Cyprus Airways. Car hire is widely available in major towns, cities and most airports. Advance booking is recommended during peak summer months. Although the minimum driving age is 18, car hire agencies often have a minimum age requirement of 21 and a valid licence that has been held for three years must be presented. Taxi services are available 24 hours in and between major cities. All taxis have meters and are subject to government regulation. Urban, trans-urban, rural and airport transfer bus services are also a useful means of getting around. Tourists may cross the border freely into the northern, disputed territories by presenting a valid passport.
