The Prime Minister of Dominica is the head of government, who is appointed by the president and is usually the elected member of the house who appears to command the support of the majority of the house. Through the president, the prime minister appoints the ministers to form their cabinet. The prime minister also advices on the appointment of the parliamentary secretaries, directing the secretary to the cabinet; as well as appointing key members of the public service commission — on top of directing policy in cabinet and parliament.
