Ghana has close diplomatic ties with the USA and the UK, represented by an ambassador in Washington DC and a high commissioner in London. Ghana is concurrently accredited to African nations, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and the Commonwealth via embassies, high commissions and consulates. Ghana is the largest African peacekeeping contributor nation to multinational peacekeeping operations.
Bilateral co-operation exists between Ghana and several countries including some African nations. Through their embassies, high commissions and consulates – mainly based in Accra – foreign missions maintain relations with Ghana and work as development partners providing general support to the Ghana government, the private sector, and Ghanaians in general. Embassies and other foreign missions can be contacted for information on consular affairs such as visas, passports and travel.
Ghana maintains several embassies, high commissions and consulates abroad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs directs the activities of the country’s international relations, promoting and protecting Ghana and its citizens’ interests abroad. There is an embassy in Washington DC, USA; the Hague, Netherlands; and a high commission in London, UK. Ghana is a member of the United Nations with a permanent mission in Geneva.
