Grenada Electricity Services Limited (GRENLEC) is the sole provider of electricity in Grenada. GRENLEC is a private company located in the capital of St Georges. The company serves over 40,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. It has three generating stations; the main station is located on the main island of Grenada, one is in Carriacou and the final station is in Petite Martinique. They also own two sub-stations to enhance capacity and reliability of the distribution system. GRENLEC has a distribution network of around 220 miles of distribution lines and are investigating renewable energy sources. In 2009 Grenada produced approximately 195.4 million kWh and consumed 177.4 million.
