The Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest) is the country’s leading investment agency. Established as a semi-autonomous body in 1994 under the Public Corporations act, it aims to contribute to Guyana’s economic development by promoting and facilitating local and foreign private sector investment and exports. Other notable economic development agencies include the Linden Economic Advancement Programme, a joint Guyanese government and European Union venture with the objective of promoting entrepreneurship and enterprise for economic development in the town of Linden and its surrounding region; and the Guyana Marketing Corporation which promotes the exports of Guyana’s non-traditional agricultural products to regional and international markets.Non-profit organisations such as the Guyana Small Businesses Association and the Institute of Private Enterprise Development offer advice, training and financing to small and mediums sized enterprises in order to promote enterprise development in the country.
