Research Institutes in Guyana

There are several higher education institutions, government organisations and independent research organisations operating across many fields and disciplines in Guyana. The importance of Science and Technology research is recognised in the country’s National Development Strategy. Notable research organisations in Guyana include the Institute of Applied Science and Technology, a national agency with a mandate for the development of appropriate technology for the sustainable utilisation of Guyana’s resources; and the National Agricultural Research Institute of Guyana which aims to integrate scientific knowledge and agricultural production to achieve optimal and sustainable use of the country’s agricultural resources.
