Find Trade Union expertise in India

Trade unionism in India is seen to be quite fragmented, and this is often based on political and regional divisions. In many work places several trade unions compete for the loyalty of the same selection of workers, and their rivalry can often be bitter and sometimes violent. Statistics on the number of trade unions, and that of trade union membership, are difficult to come by because not many trade unions operate at the national level, since many are not affiliated to any national trade union centre. There are twelve Central Trade Union Organisations in India, which include, the All India Trade Union Congress, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Hind Mazdoor Kisan Panchayat, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, the Indian Federation of Free Trade Unions, the Indian National Trade Union Congress, the National Front of Indian Trade Unions, the National Labour Organisation, the Trade Unions Co-ordination Centre, the United Trade Union Congress, and the United Trade Union Congress – Lenin Sarani.
