Visitors to India have a wide list of lodging options available to them, ranging from modern western style hotels, to converted historical buildings, which are ever present in all the major cities. Further than this, there are cheaper hostels, which are ideal for backpackers. A host of people are well provided for; however businessmen are catered especially well. Hotel bills may be subject to a 10% expenditure tax, a further 7 to 15% luxury tax, and a variable service charge. The international star accommodation ranking system, which is used to determine standards of hotel classification, is also in India.
