Find Forestry expertise in Kenya

Agriculture, forestry, hunting and fisheries together contribute 27% of Kenya’s GDP (2007). Forest covers 6% of the total land area (2005). Only a few companies are authorised to exploit the state forests, on a strictly sustainable basis. The Green Belt Movement, a civil society organisation founded by Nobel Peace Prize-winner Wangaari Maathai, has over many years been responsible for the planting of millions of trees and for raising awareness about the importance of conservation. The Kenya Forest Service manages the country’s forestry resources.
