Government Ministries

The political head of each of some 40 ministries – such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of Planning and National Development – is a minister, who, in some ministries, is assisted by a minister of state. Ministers are selected from members of the National Assembly. The administrative heads of the ministries are permanent secretaries, who are civil servants.
