As a result of the internationally brokered agreement on power-sharing of April 2008 – which resolved the political crisis that erupted following the December 2007 presidential election – a new grand coalition government was formed. This administration comprises president, prime minister, vice-president, two deputy prime ministers, 40 ministers and 52 deputy ministers. It was envisaged that a new constitution would be in place before the next election.
