Prime Minister

The positions of prime minister and deputy prime minister were created in April 2008 as part of the internationally brokered power-sharing agreement between the two leading presidential candidates, to resolve the political crisis that erupted following the December 2007 presidential election. The prime minister has the authority to coordinate and supervise the execution of the functions and affairs of the Government of Kenya including those of ministries.
