Research and Consultancy in Kiribati

Consultancy lacks a substantial native base in Kiribati. However, it should be noted that the government does make use of Australian and Kiwi firms in various forms. ¬†Examples of this outsourcing of consultancy work includes dealing with the future impact of climate change on the country, especially the impact of rising sea levels; the management of marine resources, such as the prevention of over-fishing; fulfilling the role of certain professions such as law consultants and ombudsman; and other areas of public sector consultancy. Much of this expertise is provided through aid arrangements and other bilateral agreements with Kiribati’s neighbours and more developed nations. ¬†
