Accommodation in Kiribati is very basic and functional in terms of international standards, with the international rating system not applied at the nation’s establishments. There are few hotels in Kiribati, with the major examples being on Tarawa, Christmas Island and Abemama. The small island of Kirimati also has a few hotels. Accommodation is good although not luxurious, but there are plans to build more high quality establishments. A 10% service charge is added to all hotel bills.
