Essentials in Kiribati
All visitors to Kiribati must possess a valid passport and onward ticket, and must have proof of sufficient funds to support themselves while staying in the country. Visas are not required for most developed nations; with visas for other nationalities visiting Kiribati being valid for 20 days to four months. Extensions may be granted on application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs once in Kiribati. Health insurance is strongly recommended. Tungaru Central Hospital on Tarawa provides medical service to all the islands. Government dispensaries on the outer islands are equipped to handle only minor ailments and injuries. Visitors should bring their own supply of basic medicines with them.
