Research Institutes in Malawi
Chancellor College, part of the University of Malawi, engages in various research activities, mainly through its research centres: the Centre for Social Research, the Centre for Education and Research Training, and the Molecular Biology and Ecology Research Unit. There are also several independent institutes undertaking research across many disciplines, most notably the National Research Council of Malawi. It undertakes research into a range of areas, including food security and nutrition, housing, water supply and sanitation, and economic empowerment of the poor. The Forestry Research Institute of Malawi conducts research into generating usable technologies, and works towards sustainable management and conservation of this natural resource.
