President

The President of the Republic of Malawi is the head of state and the government, and commander-in-chief of the defence forces. The president is responsible for appointing the cabinet ministers and deputy ministers. The vice-president is elected concurrently with the president. The president and vice-president can hold office for a maximum of two consecutive five-year terms.
