The prime minister is the member of the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) who commands the confidence of the majority of the members of that House. He must take an oath of office, allegiance and secrecy. He has powers to dismiss members of the cabinet, through advising the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and to appoint the judiciary amongst other things.
