Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Malaysia (Perdana Menteri) is the head of government of the country. The prime minister is the member of the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) who commands the confidence of the majority of the members of that House. He must take an oath of office, allegiance and secrecy. He has powers to dismiss members of the cabinet, through advising the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and to appoint the judiciary amongst other things. His primary duty is to ensure bills pass the parliament, and lead the cabinet in all decision-making exercises.
