Find Construction and Engineering expertise in Malta

Malta’s construction industry amounted to about 3% of GDP in 2011, a figure that has remained almost constant since 2009. Whilst the sector had been growing since 2004, it contracted by almost 5% from 2008 to 2009. Despite this, the industry employs around 12% of the population – a figure outdone only by the tourism sector. In the recent past construction activity has relied on development for tourism and domestic demand. However, a downturn in property purchases has forced the industry to rely on government projects, such as SmartCity Malta, for business. The Chamber of Engineers represents the Maltese engineering industry on a local and European level.
