Find Transport expertise in Malta

Malta is positioned astride a major shipping artery through the Mediterranean and as a result is home to two busy international ports at Valetta Grand Harbour and Marsaxlokk, along with two smaller ports at Mgarr and Marsamxett. The two large ports have facilities for towage, pilotage and bunkering. Malta’s ports are well developed and scored six out of seven in terms of quality of infrastructure in the World Economic Forum’s rankings of 2010.

Malta’s road network extends to just over 3,000 kilometres of paved roads, up from 2,000 kilometres in 2006. As Malta is comprised of three small islands there has never been an extensive railway system – the only track to operate in the country closed in 1931.
