Research Institutes in Malta

Most research institutes in Malta are attached to the University of Malta, such as the International Maritime Law Institute, International Ocean Institute, and the European Documentation and Research Institute. The largest research body that is not attached to the University of Malta is the Institute of Tourism Studies, which particularly focuses on research into the heritage and culture sub-sector of the tourism industry. There are also research institutes dedicated to religious inquiry – notably the Institute for Augustinian Studies and Discern (the Institute for Research on Signs of the Times).
