Find Oil and Gas expertise in Mauritius

Mauritius has no known oil, coal or gas reserves (2007). Petroleum products are major imports, with about 1 million tons brought in each year. Petroleum fuels are required for the marine, automotive and aviation sectors. The State Trading Corporation (STC), a parastatal body, is the trading arm of the government responsible for the importation of essential commodities, including petroleum products. STC usually procures petroleum products through open international tenders. The main companies in the country’s downstream sector that are involved in the distribution and retail of petroleum products are IndianOil, Shell, Total, and Caltex (Chevron), of which Shell is the largest and trades on the country’s stock exchange.
