Research and Consultancy in Mauritius

Consultancy services span many sectors, including general business, tax and accounting, human resources and environmental consultancy. Several independent organisations undertake key research projects in their niche area of interest, but investment in Research and Development (R&D) within business enterprises is relatively low at 0.36% of GDP (2009) when compared to countries of a similar stature. The University of Mauritius (UOM) provides contract research services managed by its Consultancy and Contract Research Centre. The Mauritius Sugar Industry Research Institute (MSIRI), which undertakes agricultural research on sugarcane crops, and the Agricultural Research and Extension Unit (AREU), which focuses on non-sugarcane crops and livestock, can also provide research consultancy services on contract.
