Find Insurance and Reinsurance expertise in Namibia
Namibia has over 30 insurance companies. The long-term insurance sector (life, health, pensions, disability) is relatively larger in size and more developed than the short-term sector (mostly car, house, commercial risk, household contents). In the short-term sector, companies with larger industrial and commercial risks often insure in well-developed foreign markets, primarily South Africa. Insurance companies invest extensively in foreign assets, although they are subject to a minimum of 35% investment in Namibian assets. The sector is regulated by the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA).
