Find Oil and Gas expertise in Namibia
Namibia is widely understood to have a substantial untapped oil and gas potential. A host of companies from around the world have been working hard in the country, onshore and offshore, to uncover what could be the largest oil deposit in the region. The companies come from every corner of the globe: the UK (Chariot Oil & Gas Limited), Russia (Gazprom), Japan (Mitsui & Company), Croatia (INA Industrija Nafte) and the USA (Hunt Oil Company). The state-owned National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) is the key organisation in the sector. It controls the exploration activities for oil and gas upstream by way of a bidding process, while the international oil companies do the actual exploration. NAMCOR also delivers at least 50% of the country’s petroleum product requirements. Five companies work in downstream services in Namibia: bp, Caltex, Engen, Shell and Total.
