There are constitutional provisions for the right to unionise however there are no formal labour laws, current trade union structure or active trade unions in Nauru. Nauru is not a member of the International Labour Organisation. Although they are not formal trade unions, the Nauru Fisherman’s Association and the Private Business Sector Organisation provide some support for workers, along with vocational skills and regulations.
