Education NGOs and CSOs in Nauru

The Nauru National Council of Women and the Nauru Youth Council are just a few of local NGOs actively involved in promoting literacy, education and vocational training. The Able Disabled Centre provides schooling for disabled children with teachers provided by the Ministry of Education. Pacific Regional Initiatives for the Delivery of Basic Education (PRIDE), implemented by the University of the South Pacific’s Institute of Education, is focused on improving the training and qualifications of teachers in Nauru; in 2009 only 9% of teachers had a degree while 30% had no qualifications.
