Essentials in New Zealand

A passport valid for a minimum of three months is required by all visitors to New Zealand. Citizens of Australia, Great Britain, Canada, the USA, and the EU do not require a visa to visit the country. Citizens that are not from a visa-free country must obtain a visa in advance from a New Zealand embassy or high commission.

Private accident insurance is recommended for visitors intending to drive in the country as motor insurance is not a legal requirement and accident victims do not have the right to sue a third party in the event of a traffic accident.

There is a departure tax of up to NZ$25 from New Zealand airports.
